Swan Song for Sarah

Written on March 29, 2007

A sad day. One of the best-written and most enjoyable of the biblio-blogs, Sarah’s Books, Used and Rare, has “wrapped up” her posting. As she explains, it’s for good reasons; nonetheless, she’ll be missed.

Quiet in the shop today, which is fine. Catching up on my shelf of “to-be-entered-into-the-database” and taking the time to Brodart the pile of already priced tomes.

The day got off to a good start: snagged a $100+ book (for three bucks) at a local thrift for which I already have a customer. Always nice when that happens. And tonight I’m off to the FOL in San Luis Obisipo. A bit of a haul for me. We’ll see if it’s worth it. Look for a report in the next couple of days.

Hey Brian. Thanks for your kind words. But I’ve just completely caved - I lasted three scant weeks, and now I’m back, blogging again. What’s to become of me.

Re your earlier post about telling people what you do - I love watching people’s eyes when you get to say with a big grin, “I have a used bookshop.” The eyes widen, you might even get an eyebrow lift or two. And you’re right, they don’t usually know what to say: “How…?” It’s great telling people what you do, when you LOVE what you do, isn’t it.

Great blog - I’ll keep on reading.
