“Um…Are all these books for sale??”

I’m consistently amazed at the number of people who walk into the shop and ask this question. I honestly don’t know what to make of it.

Adventure a rare book dealer and small bookshop owner.
Say, “Yes, and if you’d like to buy them, I’d be happy to help you pack them all into your car.”
Or, “No, all the books are free today. Help yourself.”
The other classic bookshop question: “Have you read all these books?”
I say, “No, but some of them I’ve read four times.”
